Cognac has been upgraded as necessary but is still a project. The sails and rig were replaced with a Selden mast and rig in 2007 with new mainsail and 130% genoa in 1996. The engine in a newer Perkins 85 hp installed about 10 years ago.
Currently the air conditioner, refrigerator, stove, generator, electronics and autopilot need to be repaired, replaced, and /or upgraded. The interior also needs to be attended to and cleaned up if not replaced.

HULL - Hand laid up molded fiberglass alternating mat and woven roving. Constructed by Ta Shing Yacht Building Company.
DECK : - Hand laid up molded fiberglass cored with endgrain balsa. Hull and deck are mechanically fastened every 4" with S.S. thrubolts. 3M 5200 is used for adhesive bedding compound. All thrubolts for hull to deck joint are accessible from below. Flush mounted deck fills are provided for each fuel and water tank. Exterior teak caprail high gloss varnish as is the handrails.
RUDDER: - The rudder, mounted on a protective skeg, has an internal S.S. plate welded the entire length of the shaft. A bronze gudgeon is attached to the skeg.
BALLAST: -The Norseman features internal lead ballast - 12,000 lbs. providing a 44% ballast to displacement ratio to support a positive righting moment. No keel bolts to worry about.
BULKHEADS: - The bulkheads are fiberglassed to hull and deck with tapered edges and foam compression pads against hull to support natural expansion and contraction. Surfaces are finished with satin formica and teak veneer. The overhead is made up of removable panels with access to wiring and backup plates.
CHAINPLATES: - S.S. chain plates are attached to web members of 1-1/2" plywood encapsulated in fiberglass, transferring loads evenly to the hull. S.S. backup plates with six 1/2" thrubolts for each chain plate. All chain plates are accessable. All stem fittings and chain plates are electropolished. Backstay and headstay chain plates are recessed into the hull.
HATCHES: - Six opening hatches by Goiot of France.
PORTS: - Twelve opening ports by Vaassen from Holland . Fixed windows are tinted lexan bedded in 3M 5200 marine bedding compound. Custom storm windows for the eight hull ports are included and installed.
PRISMS: - Five tempered glass deck prisms let light in galley, navigation area, and forward cabin.
CLEATS: - Four 12" and two 10" Vaassen mooring cleats are provided with S.S. backing plates.
LAZARRETTES - Four large deck-accessed lazarettes provide storage for deck gear, including one vented locker which contains two 20 lb aluminum alloy propane tanks.
DORADE VENTS: - Two Nicro Fico solar powered exha;ust vents and two Vetus UFO vents provide ventilation. Dorade boxes are built into fork extensions on deck.
HANDRAILS: - handrails are provided port band starboard on forward deck and at companionway. Dodger has custom SS handrails port and starboard. Interior handrails are provided thruout.
COCKPIT: - High seat backs, radiused corners and contoured seats insure comfort and safety at sea. A custom solid teak cockpit table and drink holder serve four located forward of the helm.
